But before the film hit the theatres today, Nawaz made headlines for his role and a great portrayal of Ganesh Gaitonde in the 2nd instalment of Sacred Games 2 helmed by Anurag Kashyap. Sacred Games 2 didn’t live up to expectations like the first one. The 2nd season of suspense-thriller web series was criticized by the netizens soon after it was dropped on the OTT platform, Netflix. A lot of people did mention that the relationship fo Gaitonde and Guruji slowed down the season which wasn't the case with the first one.

During a recent promotional interview for Motichoor Chaknachoor, when Nawaz was asked about the criticism received for Sacred Games 2, he lashed out at them and told Pinkvilla, “Who are these people? I only take criticism from people who are of my standard. Today, every second person is there to criticize. Yes, I know the show got a little boring but these people criticizing, do they have knowledge of cinema? I can take criticism when the person has equal or more knowledge of cinema. Won’t listen to any ‘aira gaira natu gaira’. Anyone criticises today, I am a trained actor, I do not take criticism from anyone.”(ALSO READ: Sacred Games 2 Actress Surveen Chawla On Her Casting Couch Experience: Directors Wanted To See My Cleavage And Thighs)

However, the Manjhi actor admitted that his Sacred Games 2 character Gaitonde, is too negative and he would not play the character anymore. He further lashed out at those trolls and said, “People are okay watching vulgar songs and scenes but when it comes to abuses said by a character which goes with its traits, they cannot take it.”

Earlier, Saif Ali Khan had spoken at length about him not liking the 2nd season of Sacred Games. He had told Mid-Day, “I didn't like the second season as much as I liked the first, which was the newest and most interesting thing I had ever seen on TV, from any country. It was a mafia show with a disturbed cop. But it [Season 2] became a bit esoteric and slow, with the treatment of the guru with Gaitonde.”
